The PA Department of Agriculture in partnership with Adams County Office for Aging, Inc. (ACOFA), provides vouchers which can be used by adults age 60 and over to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at local farmer’s markets. Vouchers are available at the ACOFA office to people age 60+ who live in Adams County and meet the income guidelines.
For 2019, the income eligibility limit is $23,107 for a single person and $31,284 for a married couple. Each person who qualifies will receive four $5 vouchers for a total of $20 worth of produce purchased from participating farmer’s markets. Married couples are eligible to get two sets of vouchers – one for each person (if both are 60+.) Each household will also receive a list of participating markets where vouchers are accepted.
Applicants must bring identification to verify age and residence. The income for this program is self-declared, which means that by signing for the vouchers, the person is stating that they are income eligible. A signed, completed Proxy Form is required for anyone picking up vouchers for another person. Vouchers will be distributed until September 30th on a first come, first served basis. Each person may receive one set of vouchers each year.
